Chris
Chris Toney has had to be a lot of people for a lot of people for a long time. Performing musical arts however is the one thing he does in life that allows him to simply be himself. His first stage performance occurred at the age of four in 1984 while learning how to play drums. Classically trained performing Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Frankie Valli, oldies and 60s-90s country with his father and The Kentucky Miracles. Every weekend until his graduation from high school in 1999 Chris would be playing drums at local dance barns across Western Kentucky. It was quickly understood that he had a spiritual connection to music and could feel it differently than others. Growing up in the 90s allowed Chris to explore a plethora of new emerging sounds that came from the underground such as Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Green Day, The Prodigy, The Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers, Low Fidelity All-Stars, Fat Boy Slim, and The Propellerheads to name a few. In 1996, owning one of the first windows home computers, Chris sold his baseball card collection to buy his first keyboard from the local radio shack. Utilizing the home computer with Hammerhead beat loop software and new keyboard he created his first electronic mix. It was horrible. Chris also performed alternative rock as a drummer in Europe with the band 39th Parallel while serving in the United States Navy. After a combined total of 12 years of service with two combat tours in Iraq, Chris learned that the world is full of beautiful people of all different shapes, colors, sizes, faiths, religions, foods, and cultures. There are very few bad people in the world. He learned that music is something that connected all of us and is a language spoken and understood by all. He lives by the philosophy that you cannot create peace with bullets and bombs. Chris learned to mix, blend, and mashup songs and sounds on a DJ controller. Adding effects and customizations. Chris performs mixing on four decks, accompanied with drum pads, samples, and organic instruments, with a purpose to create peaceful and positive environments and all with melodic sounds that has everyone moving their heads, to their hips, to their feet, all in sync together with the beat.
Mat
Mat Pentecost was the kid that would show up to your grade school weekend party with two grocery bags full of cassette tapes cued up to the perfect drop and would work a dual tape deck all night. You’d think he was being anti-social, but in all respects, he was supplying the soundtrack for everyone else to make-out. Mat acquired his first set of turntables in 1999. He never looked back. Mat has been collecting vinyl before it was popular. Mat has delivered seven vinyl releases since 2017. He has had the pleasure of collaborating with Moonlight Puddle Productions, Filthy Fingers United, Dead Man’s Pocket, and now Rogue Hippies. He won’t stop ‘til he is dead. Mat Loves to rock the house! “Check these fools out!” – Skandia Gilkey circa 1979 Musician, producer, scratch Dj and percussionist. Father. Believer.
